Visiting International Student (PhD Candidate)
Sabrina Lashchuk completed her Bachelor’s degree in Medical and Pharmaceutical Biotechnology at the University of Florence and her Master’s degree in Sustainable Industrial Pharmaceutical Biotechnology at the University of Siena. She is currently a PhD candidate at the University of Siena, where her research focuses on the development, qualification, and validation of high-throughput functional assays to assess vaccine-induced bactericidal activity against emerging bacterial pathogens. Sabrina will spend six months of her PhD in Professor Sriram Subramaniam’s laboratory at UBC, where she will be involved in a cell-free protein expression system project. Her background includes experience in bacterial and viral assays, monoclonal antibodies, cell culture, fluorescence and high-content imaging, and BSL-3 laboratory work. In her free time, she enjoys travelling and learning new things.
