Jacqueline Seal, BSc

Jackie graduated from the University of Toronto with an Honours Bachelor of Science (HBSc) in Computer Science, minoring in Mathematics. A formative summer internship with Rosetta Commons after her second year of undergrad led to a keen interest in computational structural biology. She went on to spend a year working at Toronto biotech ProteinQure, developing methods for peptide design with non-canonical amino acids. Her final-year undergraduate research project focused on sequence-to-function design of intrinsically disordered proteins. After a post-grad year working on protein design problems at NYC’s Flatiron Institute and subsequently at Genentech, she joined the MSc program in Bioinformatics at UBC in 2026. She is co-supervised by Prof. Khanh Dao Duc in the Department of Mathematics. Jackie enjoys bikepacking, hiking, climbing, and making mosaic art.
