Research Assistant/Technician
Dima earned his BSc in Biochemistry from the University of Winnipeg. During his undergraduate studies, he worked as a student technician at the Public Health Agency of Canada’s National Microbiology Laboratory (NML) within the Special Bacteriology Unit. There, he gained experience in microbial diagnostics of rare and difficult-to-identify bacterial species and contributed to research on assay development and the characterization of novel bacterial species.
After graduating, Dima joined the Bioforensics Assay Development and Diagnostics (BADD) group at the NML, where he gained experience in a Containment Level 3 laboratory, protein purification, and played an active role in quality assurance. In 2024, he joined the Subramaniam Lab, where his current work is focused on protein purification to support the research objectives of the PROGENITER project. His research interests are driven by a desire to improve public health and combat emerging infectious diseases.
Outside the lab, Dima enjoys immersing himself in nature through activities such as snowboarding, hiking, camping, and fishing.
