Undergraduate Thesis Student
Evan is completing his BSc in Combined Honors Chemistry and Biochemistry at the University of British Columbia (UBC). With a strong interest in structural biology and therapeutic design, he is conducting his Biochemistry Honors Thesis in the Subramaniam lab, where he is designing de novo protein inhibitors against Middle East Respiratory Syndrome-related Coronavirus (MERS-CoV). Through this work, Evan has gained extensive hands-on experience with computational tools such as ChimeraX, RFdiffusion, ProteinMPNN, and Chai-1. His prior research experience includes extensive cloning, protein purification, and protein complex characterization, and his current project will soon expand to include cryo-EM grid preparation and data analysis.
Outside the lab, Evan enjoys weightlifting, attending concerts, cooking, and spending time with his dogs.
